Yin Yoga

Rachel Duerkop leads authentic Yin yoga classes based on the Chinese energy meridian system.

Rachel often enhances Yin practice with restorative yoga poses, guided meditation (Yoga Nidra), and hands-on Reiki.

Why practice Yin, and what will you do in a Yin session? Yin yoga compliments dynamic, vigorous movement such as Vinyasa yoga, running, cycling, barre, and crosstraining. Practitioners sit or recline in poses for several minutes at a time, adding gentle but deliberate stress to the deep connective tissues of the core and hips. Each pose is a mini-meditation. Yin yoga gradually restores range of motion and lubrication in the joints, releases stagnated energy, enables energy to flow with greater ease through the body, and calms the mind.

Rachel has been teaching Vinyasa since 2009 and added Yin in 2012. She has completed three Yin teacher trainings, with Yin masters Bernie Clark, Sarah Powers, and Josh Summers. She has also practiced Yin with Paulie Zink and Joe Barnett. Rachel is also a Reiki Master.
